It's time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we'll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

Arusha is a fun city to explore, a fascinating urban complement to the thrills on offer elsewhere in northern Tanzania's safari parks. Here you'll get to experience lively streets, tasty local food, and busy markets and museums. More than anything else, it's a window into life in a provincial Tanzanian city.

We will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check in.

Day 2

Karatu

In the busy provincial town of Karatu, with its constant stream of passing tourist traffic, the many places to stay mean you can rest from life on the road here. It’s big enough to have banks, shops (for both supplies and souvenirs) and a few roadside restaurants where locals eat.

Activity Day 2

After breakfast and checkout drive to Karatu, Near the Ngorongoro Crater arriving in time for lunch. Have a leisurely afternoon enjoying the hotel's facilities.

On your way between Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, Acacia Farm Lodge lies just off the main road in Karatu. It offers sweeping views of one of the greenest areas anywhere in Tanzania. Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano – quite apart from the altitude – will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor where a unique wildlife offering is added to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever.

Activity Day 3

On this day you will descend over 600 meters to the floor of the Ngorongoro crater for a day tour. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkeys and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Picnic lunches will be served in the crater.

Day 4

Serengeti National Park

You’ll never forget the time you spend in the Serengeti. Perhaps it will be the sightings of leopard and cheetah as they show their skills as feared hunters of the plains and valleys. Or that unforgettable moment when an elephant family feeds alongside your vehicle, so close you could almost reach out and touch them. Or the first time you hear a lion roar. Then there are the herds of buffalo, zebra or wildebeest so large that they move as one across your horizon, like a river. All of these experiences are possible in the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful parks in Africa.

Visit Olduvai Gorge & Museum, Olduvai Gorge

Come with us on a journey back through human history as you visit Olduvai Gorge and the museum that overlooks it. The archaeological findings here in the 1950s and 1960s helped us better understand the origins of humankind. Explore the gorge and visit the excellent museum, which tells this remarkable story.

Activity Day 4

After breakfast and check out, drive to Serengeti National Park. On the way visit Olduvai Gorge & Museum. A picnic lunch is included.

Lahia Tented Lodge looks out over the central Serengeti from a hill that allows you to see for miles across the park. The elegant and spacious safari tents have wood floors, sit high on stilts, and have large terraces where you can admire the view. You’ll get to know the Serengeti and its colorful cast of characters even better with another day immersed in its wild beauty.

Day 6

Masai Mara National Reserve

You're in for a really special safari experience on your visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the best places in Kenya to look for big cats. You may see so many elephant, giraffe, Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and hippo that you stop noticing them after a while! And these are just the start: watch for the reserve's population of black rhino, which are present in the Mara Triangle although they can be pretty hard to spot. Beautiful savannah grasslands, acacia trees, distant escarpments and more than 500 possible bird species are other highlights you can look forward to.

Activity Day 6

After breakfast and check out, drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve via the Isebania border between Kenya and Tanzania.
